Men's Lacrosse Falls in Opener at Lawrence Tech

BIRMINGHAM, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team lost its season opener 10-8 to Lawrence Tech University at Detroit Country Day on Saturday.

Lawrence Tech led 4-2 after the first quarter and 7-2 five minutes into the second. Kalamazoo scored the final three goals of the quarter to trail 7-5 at halftime.

The Hornets scored the first two goals in the third to even things up at 7-7. The Hornets were never able to take a lead, as the Blue Devils pulled ahead again before Kalamazoo tied it up again at 8-8. Lawrence Tech scored again with 50 seconds remaining to lead 9-8 after three quarters. The Blue Devils scored the only goal of the fourth quarter with 6:24 remaining as they held on to win, 10-8.

Lawrence Tech held a 42-31 advantage in shots, and a 41-34 advantage in ground balls.

Grayson Pratt and Vincent Tran each scored a pair of goals for the Hornets. Dylan McGorisk scored a goal with an assist, while Jack Jesko was credited with two assists.

Vincent Tremonti was credited with a team-high five ground balls.

The Hornets are scheduled to play their home opener against Concordia next Saturday, Feb. 19 at 3 p.m.
