Men's Lacrosse Wins at Earlham

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team improved to 1-1 on the season with an 18-3 win at Earlham College on Saturday.

Kalamazoo led 4-0 after scoring four times in the first four minutes of the contest. The Hornets scored three goals in the first five minutes of the second quarter to take a 7-0 lead before Earlham got on the board with 7:07 left in the half. Kalamazoo scored five more times in the final 5:06 to take a 12-1 lead into halftime.

Kalamazoo scored four unanswered goals in the third to go up 16-1. Each team scored twice in the fourth leading to the 18-3 final.

Kalamazoo outshot Earlham 61-22, including 39-9 on goal. The Hornets won 15 of 24 faceoffs, and held a 42-30 advantage in ground balls.

Mitchel VanGalder led the Hornets with four goals and an assist.

Vincent Tremonti scored three goals with three ground balls. Logan Gillis scored twice with two assists. 

Jake Asnis and Ethan Huebsch each had two goals and an assist. Vincent Tran scored twice.

Zach Connor led the team with six ground balls. Jack Bungart had four ground balls with three caused turnovers. Asnis also had three gournd balls with three caused turnovers.

Dylan Wickey made four saves in 30 minutes in goal. Eric Paternoster and Kiah Holdsworth each made a save while playing 15 minutes apiece.

Kalamazoo returns home to face Northwestern-St. Paul next Saturday, March 4 at 3 p.m.
