Men's Lacrosse Defeats Northwestern-St. Paul

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team improved to 2-1 on the season with a 13-5 win over Northwestern-St. Paul Saturday afternoon.

Kalamazoo scored first just under three minutes into the contest and scored five goals in the first 10 minutes. The visiting Eagles scored with 3:31 left in the first.

Kalamazoo scored next with 5:49 left in the second quarter, then scored twice in a span of 28 seconds with just over a minute left in the half to take an 8-1 lead into halftime.

The Hornets went up 9-1 just 50 seconds into the third and led 10-2 after three quarters of play.

Kalamazoo scored the first three goals of the fourth to take a 13-2 lead. Northwestern scored three times in the final five minutes leading to the 13-5 final.

Kalamazoo outshot Northwestern 40-25 overall, 23-10 on goal. Northwestern had advantages in ground balls (39-35) and faceoffs won (16-6).

Logan Gillis led Kalamazoo offensively with four goals and two assists.

Ryan Warezak scored three goals with an assist. Grayson Pratt scored two goals with an assist.

Jake Asnis added two goals. Jack Jesko was credited with two assists.

Dylan Wickey made three saves in goals in nearly 48 minutes of play in goal.

Kalamazoo is back in action at home Wednesday, March 8, when the Hornets take on Benedictine (Ill.) at 6 p.m.
