Big Fourth Quarter Leads to Men's Lacrosse Win at Edgewood

VERONA, Wis. - The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team scored six times in the fourth quarter to come from behind and win 14-11 at Edgewood College on Monday.

Kalamazoo scored the first goal of the game just 34 seconds in but trailed 4-2 at the end of the first quarter.

Edgewood scored four straight in the second to go up 7-3 before a late Hornet goal made it 7-4 going into halftime.

Kalamazoo pulled ahead 8-7 with four straight goals in the third. Edgewood responded with three straight to end the quarter leading 10-8.

Kalamazoo scored four straight in the fourth to regain the lead 12-10. Edgewood made it 12-11 with 6:51 left. A quick goal by the Hornets made it 13-11 before the final goal with 2:09 remaining put the Hornets up 14-11 for good.

Kalamazoo outshot Edgewood 52-36 overall, 37-20 on goal. The Hornets won 17-of-28 faceoffs and held a 48-42 advantage in ground balls.

Ronin Honda led the Hornets with four goals.

Ryan Warezak scored three goals with an assist. Logan Gillis scored two goals with four assists.

Jake Asnis was credited with a team-high 11 ground balls. JJ Ohren-Hoeft had eight ground balls and a team-high four caused turnovers.

Dylan Wickey made nine saves in goal.

The Hornets are back in action Saturday, March 25, at Concordia Wisconsin.
