Men's Lacrosse Wins Season Finale Over Trine

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team celebrated its senior day and season finale with a 9-5 win over Trine University on Saturday at MacKenzie Field.

Kalamazoo scored the first goal of the game just over three minutes into the contest. Kalamazoo scored three goals in the first eight minutes and led 3-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Trine scored twice in the first three minutes of the second quarter, but Kalamazoo responded with five straight goals to take an 8-2 lead. A Thunder goal with 1:22 remaining made it an 8-3 game going into halftime.

Trine scored the only goal of the third quarter at the 6:33 mark, making it 8-4 in favor of Kalamazoo.

Kalamazoo went up 9-4 just 14 seconds into the fourth. Trine completed the scoring with 5:07 left in the fourth, leading to the 9-5 final.

Kalamazoo outshot Trine 52-24 overall, 24-13 on goal. The Hornets won 10 of the 17 faceoffs.

Logan Gillis led the Hornets with two goals and two assists.

Jake Asnis scored two goals with eight ground balls. 

Ronin Honda scored a goal and had an assist. Cam VanGalder had a goal and an assist along with seven ground balls.

JJ Ohren-Hoeft and Mike Hume were each credited with two caused turnovers.

Eric Paternoster made four saves in goal in the first half. Dylan Wickey made four saves in the second half.
