CLERMONT, Fla. - The Kalamazoo College softball team lost its first two games in Florida Thursday.
Kalamazoo vs. UW-Stevens Point
Kalamazoo lost its opening game 3-2 to UW-Stevens Point.
Stevens Point scored first in the top of the second, but Kalamazoo evened the score in the bottom of the third. The Pointers scored a pair of runs in the top of the fourth to regain the lead while holding Kalamazoo to just one more run in the sixth.
Kalamazoo was outhit 7-4 in the game. Fiona Summers went 3-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Hornets offensively.
Kalamazoo vs. Lawrence
Kalamazoo lost its night game 8-1 to Lawrence University. The Hornets actually outhit Lawrence 9-7, but left 11 runners on base in the contest.
Lawrence scored three in the bottom of the first and led 3-1 after four innings. Lawrence added two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth.
Izzy Kirck was 3-for-4 to lead the Hornets. Alyssa Heitkamp drove in the only run.
Kalamazoo is scheduled to play Worcester State and Grinnell on Friday.
