Kaelyn Arlington of the Kalamazoo College women's basketball team was named the SAAC Women's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday (Feb. 7).
The women's basketball team had two MIAA contests this past week, hosting Saint Mary's (Feb. 1) and then traveling to Albion (Feb. 4). Kalamazoo dropped both games, to the Belles 61-52 and the Britons 70-41.
Arlington averaged 17.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in the two games this past week. This included posting a career-high 27 points against the Belles. She was 50% (10-20) from the field, including 33% (1-3) from downtown and 75% (6-8) from the free throw line. Arlington also collected eight rebounds, two assists, and a steal against Saint Mary's. At Albion, she ended up with seven points, seven rebounds, and two steals.
Starting in all 18 games played this season, Arlington is scoring 10.0 points per game while averaging 28.9 minutes per game. In addition, she leads the team with 8.5 rebounds per game and averages just under an assist and steal per game. In her first two seasons, Arlington averages 9.2 points on 33.9% shooting. After 44 starts, she plays 27.2 minutes per game and grabs 8.0 rebounds.
The Hornets will continue MIAA play with a road game at Trine on Wednesday (Feb. 8), beginning at 7 p.m.
