Women's Basketball Defeats Adrian

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team defeated Adrian College 64-52 at home Saturday afternoon.

In a game with 13 ties and 11 lead changes, Kalamazoo led 11-9 after the first quarter and 26-25 at halftime. 

Adrian grabbed its largest lead of the game, 33-29, with 6:14 left in the third quarter. The teams went back and forth again before ending the third tied 42-42. Kalamazoo began pulling away in the fourth, leading by as many as 18 (64-46) with 2:13 remaining. Adrian score the last six points of the game as the Hornets held on for the 64-52 win.

Kalamazoo shot a season-best 35.2 percent overall while limiting Adrian to a season-low 25.7 percent. Kalamazoo made 3-of-11 from behind the arc compared to 3-of-20 by Adrian. Kalamazoo sank 23-of-38 free throws compared to 13-of-18 by Adrian. The Hornets held a 52-43 advantage in rebounds. Adrian had a 15-12 edge in offensive rebounds.

Kaelyn Arlington led the Hornets with 20 points and nine rebounds while making 8-of-11 free throws.

Jackie Brines fouled out with 15 points and eight rebounds. Laila Vincent posted her third double-double of the season (ninth career) with 13 points and 10 rebounds. She also tallied three assists, three steals and two blocked shots.

Sara English added seven points. Kylah Davis finished with six points and a team-high 13 rebounds.

 

Kalamazoo plays its final home game of the season next Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m. against Calvin.
