Women's Basketball Falls at Alma

ALMA, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team was defeated 94-63 at Alma College on Wednesday.

The score was tied 14-14 with 4:02 left in the first quarter before a 12-4 run by Alma gave the Scots a 26-18 lead at the end of one. The Hornets were within six (35-29) midway through the second quarter but trailed 45-29 at halftime.

Kalamazoo was within 11 (49-38) early in the third quarter before Alma began to pull away and secure the win.

Alma shot 55.1 percent overall while making 12-of-23 three-pointers. Kalamazoo shot 39.7 percent overall while making 5-of-27 three's. The Scots outrebounded Kalamazoo 39-28, including 10-5 on the offensive end.

Ruby Hogan led the Hornets with 19 points, three rebounds, four assists and four steals. She was 5-for-5 from the free throw line.

Jackie Brines scored 16 points with eight rebounds and two assists.

Jordan Wesaw finished with 11 points, five rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots. 

Kaelyn Arlington added eight points with seven rebounds.

Kalamazoo returns home for the season finale and Senior Day against Trine on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 1 p.m.
