Women's Lacrosse Defeated at Ohio Northern

ADA, Ohio - The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team was defeated 18-15 at Ohio Northern University Saturday afternoon.

Kalamazoo led 4-2 after the first quarter, and led by as many as three on four occassions before taking a 9-8 lead into halftime.

The host Polar Bears scored the first three goals in the third quarter, while outscoring Kalamazoo 7-3 in the quarter to take a 15-12 lead into the fourth. 

Ohio Northern scored the first three in the fourth to take an 18-12 lead. Kalamazoo scored three goals in the final five minutes to get to the 18-15 final.

Ohio Northern held a 38-31 advantage in shots, including 31-23 on goal. The Polar Bears also had 30 ground balls to Kalamazoo's 24. Each team had 18 draw controls. Kalamazoo had 14 caused turnovers to Ohio Northern's 13.

Abbie Caza led the Hornets with six goals on nine shots.

Hannah Heeren and Ella Spooner each had three goals and an assist. Maya Richardson had three assists in the game.

Ella Spooner led the team with seven draw controls. Hannah Heeren and Sophie Hartl each had five.

Jordan Flink, Hannah Heeren, Lily Grelak and Elena Basso each had four ground balls. Natalie Maki and Elena Basso each caused three turnovers.

Kalamazoo is back in action Saturday, March 4 at Illinois Tech.
