Elana Mitchell of the Kalamazoo College women's soccer team was named the SAAC Women's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday (Oct. 24).
Kalamazoo finished its MIAA schedule with a road game at Calvin on Oct. 18 and a home game against Adrian on Oct. 21. The Hornets fell to the Knights 2-0 before bouncing back to defeat the Bulldogs 2-1.
Mitchell collected 11 saves in two games, with five coming against Calvin and six against Adrian. She fended off 14 corner kick attempts as the two goals from the Knights did not come from those situations. She has won six of her last nine decisions with five clean sheets and has not allowed more than two goals in a game. On the season, Mitchell has started all 16 games in the net for Kalamazoo and has 70 saves with a 1.38 goals-against average, a .761 save percentage, and six shutouts.
The Hornets will await the completion of the regular season on Tuesday (Oct. 24) before finding out their seeding and opponent for the MIAA Tournament.
