Men's Basketball Plays Exhibition at Western Michigan University

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team lost 76-56 at NCAA Division I Western Michigan University in an exhibition game Saturday afternoon.

The score was tied 7-7 five minutes into the game and the Hornets trailed just 12-10 with 13:25 left in the first half. 

Kalamazoo trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half before cutting the deficit to 10 (34-24) at halftime.

The Hornets were still within 10 (43-33) with 15:29 remaining before the host Broncos pulled ahead by 26 (63-37) with 7:51 left. 

Kalamazoo chipped away and made it a 20-point game as time expired.

WMU shot 43.1 percent from the field compared to 38.9 percent for Kalamazoo. The Broncos held a 43-29 advantage in rebounds. 

Merritt Hamann led the Hornets with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Tanner Blyly scored 10 points.

Bass Ollie finished with nine points and five rebounds while Ben Reiter scored seven points.

Jeremiah Vincent added six points with four assists.

Kalamazoo opens the regular season at home next Saturday, Nov. 9 at 3 p.m. against Ripon College.
