Men's Soccer Falls to Aquinas

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team played at MacKenzie Field for the second straight day against Aquinas on Wednesday (Sept. 6). In a game that saw 32 total fouls and six yellow cards handed out, the Saints came out victorious over the Hornets 2-0.

The two goals by Aquinas both came off the foot of Ricardo Rittersberger, with the first being a penalty kick after a Kalamazoo handball in the box during the 27th minute. Rittersberger then took a short cross by Mason Sills and redirected it to the back post in the 52nd minute. Out of the nine shots the Hornets took, only two had a chance at scoring compared to Aquinas' 17 total shots and 13 on net. Houtkooper finished the night with his first career double-digit save effort with 11.

Aquinas held advantages in shots (17-9), while Kalamazoo had more corner kicks (9-3) and saves (11-2) with both teams committing 16 fouls each.

Kalamazoo will be back in action on Saturday (Sept. 9) at MacKenzie Field for a matchup against North Park, beginning at 7 p.m.
