ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team began a long road stretch with a trip to UM-Dearborn on Saturday (Sept. 16). After heading into halftime tied at one, the Hornets scored twice within the first 10 minutes of the second half to claim a 3-2 win over the Wolverines.

Kalamazoo inserted Henry Plumstead back into the starting lineup with Gavin HoutkooperColin HalloranAidan GilligMichele AliaPaul KearisEmilio RomoChad EwingJeremiah Heath, Antoine Kondracki, and Jake Lynett

The first 27 minutes of the game were played relatively even, as both teams recorded six shots. However, the Hornets' seventh shot was true as Gillig scored his third goal of the season, with the assist going to Plumstead. UM-Dearborn was able to tie the game up about 10 minutes later and went into the half with a 1-1 score.

The Hornets needed just six minutes after the half to regain the lead as Romo netted his fifth goal this year on a feed from Ewing. Three minutes later, Ewing gained another assist as Larco deposited his second goal of the season and the eventual game-winner. The Wolverines quickly answered less than a minute later, but the damage was done as K would hold on for the one-goal victory.

Houtkooper finished with four saves on six attempts in the win. The Wolverines held advantages in shots (14-10) and corner kicks (7-6), while the Hornets had more fouls (12-10), and both teams had four saves a piece.

Kalamazoo will continue its three-game road stretch on Tuesday (Sept. 19) by traveling to Concordia, beginning at 5 p.m.
