Chad Ewing of the Kalamazoo College men's soccer team was named the SAAC Men's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday (Sept. 19).
The Hornets had one home game against Cornerstone on Sept. 12 and a road game at UM-Dearborn on Sept. 16 this past week. Kalamazoo won both games with a 5-2 victory over the Golden Eagles and a 3-2 win over the Wolverines.
In the first game against CU, Ewing scored Kalamazoo's second goal in the 54th minute, which tied the game up at two. This helped get the offense going as the Hornets scored four straight goals to take the win. Then, against UMD, Ewing collected assists in the goals scored in the 52nd and 55th minutes that helped Kalamazoo take a 3-1 lead.
So far on the season, Ewing leads the team with three assists and scored a goal for five points. He has started all seven games, with four of his five shots being on target. The junior has appeared in 41 games with 30 starts, scoring six goals and collecting seven assists for 19 points.
Kalamazoo will have two road games at Concordia on Tuesday (Sept. 19) and Chicago on Saturday (Sept. 23) for its next two games.
