Men's Soccer Wins Third Straight in Victory over Concordia

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team continued its road stretch with a trip to Concordia on Tuesday (Sept. 19). The Hornets came out firing on all cylinders, scoring the first three goals in the 4-1 win over the Cardinals.

Kalamazoo rolled out the starting lineup with Gavin HoutkooperColin HalloranAidan GilligMichele AliaPaul Kearis, Henry PlumsteadEmilio RomoChad EwingJeremiah HeathAntoine Kondracki, and Jake Lynett for the second straight game. 

The first half belonged to Kalamazoo, as the team led 3-0 at halftime. In the 17th minute, Plumstead took a pass from Alia and deposited his second goal of the season in the back of the night. Then, Buist scored the game's second goal in the 34th minute after taking a shot that was initially saved and scoring. Finally, Larco scored in the 42nd minute on a corner kick from Lynett to make the score 3-0. 

After about 15 minutes of play in the second half, the Cardinals cashed in an opportunity in the 63rd minute with a penalty kick goal following a Kalamazoo foul in the box. Then, less than 10 minutes later, Gillig scored on a penalty kick for the Hornets for his fourth goal of the season. 

Houtkooper finished with three saves on four attempts in the win. The Hornets held advantages in shots (22-8) and corner kicks (2-1), while the Cardinals had more saves (6-3), and Kalamazoo committed more fouls (12-10).

Kalamazoo will conclude its three-game road stretch on Saturday (Sept. 23) by traveling to Chicago, beginning at 8 p.m.
