HOLLAND, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team was on the road at Hope to continue MIAA play on Wednesday (Oct. 11). After being up 1-0 at the half, the Hornets conceded two goals in the second half to the Flying Dutchmen and fell 2-1.

The first half was evenly played by both teams as the Hornets and Flying Dutchmen shot the ball five times each. Fortunately for Kalamazoo, one of those shots hit the back of the net in the 36th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Romo scored his sixth of the season off a pass from Gillig and took sole possession of the team lead in goals.

The game-tying goal came in the 63rd minute as the Flying Dutchmen converted on a penalty kick after Kalamazoo committed a foul in the box. The eventual game-winning goal was scored in the 80th minute as Hope took 11 shots to Kalamazoo's six in the second half.

Houtkooper finished with one save on three attempts. The Flying Dutchmen had more shots (16-11), corner kicks (6-4), and saves (5-2), while both teams had 15 fouls each.
