Men's Soccer Defeats Adrian to Secure Second Straight Win

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team was on the road at Adrian to continue MIAA play on Tuesday (Oct. 17). After a scoreless first half, the Hornets scored three goals in eight minutes to take a 3-0 win over the Bulldogs.

The Hornets took four shots compared to the Bulldog's one in the first half, with all five shots coming in the first 26 minutes of play. None of those shots could get past either goalkeeper as the score was tied 0-0 at the half. 

Kalamazoo came out on the offensive in the second half, spending a lot of time in the offensive third to begin the half. Plumstead started the scoring in the 67th minute, putting away an unassisted goal for his team-leading seventh of the season. Six minutes later, Plumstead assisted Romo on his seventh goal of the season to put the Hornets up 2-0. Within that same minute, Alia scored his fourth of the season, with Ruiz picking up the assist. Kalamazoo held on to its first shutout since the 2-0 win over Olivet Nazarene on Sept. 5.

Houtkooper finished with three saves for his third shutout of the season. The Hornets had more shots (9-4) and corner kicks (10-0), while the Bulldogs had more fouls (9-8), and both teams had three saves apiece.

Kalamazoo will continue MIAA play with a home game against Calvin on Saturday (Oct. 21), beginning at 7 p.m.
