Men's Tennis Falls to No. 11 Kenyon

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team lost 6-3 at home to Kenyon College on Sunday.

The visiting Lords entered the match ranked No. 11 in the nation and third in the region. Kalamazoo is ranked No. 29 in the nation and seventh in the region.

Kenyon won two out of the three doubles matches including 8-6 wins at both one and two. Peter Fitzgerald and Tytus Metzler claimed an 8-6 win at three.

Kenyon then won the first four singles matches before Kalamazoo picked up the final two in super tiebreakers after splitting the first two sets. Jai Banerji won 7-5, 2-6, 10-7 at five while Gabe Vidinas won 3-6, 6-3, 10-7 at six.

Ian Yi won the first set at one singles but retired after losing the second set. Metzler lost narrowly at three, 7-6(4), 6-2, and Casey Johnson lost narrowly at four, 7-5, 7-5.

Kalamazoo is back in action Saturday, Feb. 29 with a 10 a.m. match at home against Coe.
