Women's Basketball Falls at Olivet

OLIVET, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team was defeated 70-51 at The University of Olivet on Saturday.

Kalamazoo fell behind early and trailed 23-15 at the end of the first quarter and 36-21 at halftime. The Hornets cut the deficit to 11 (38-27) early in the third quarter, but were unable to get any closer in the defeat.

Olivet shot 37.1 percent overall while holding Kalamazoo to 23.1 percent. The Hornets made 17-of-24 free throws compared to 8-of-10 by the Comets. Olivet held a 48-47 edge in rebounds.

Jordan Wesaw led Kalamazoo with 14 points, six rebounds and five steals.

Jackie Brines scored 12 points with six rebounds, three assists and three steals. 

Sara English scored 12 points with two rebounds and three assists.

Ruby Hogan finished with three points, nine rebounds, one assist and two steals.

Kalamazoo returns home to face Albion College on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at 7 p.m.
