KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Rachel Madar of the Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team was honored by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as the Hornet of the Week for her performance in Saturday's game against Calvin.

Senior midfielder Madar led the team with seven goals in Kalamazoo's 14-13 win over Calvin. The game was forced into a second overtime, with Madar securing the winning goal for the Hornets with a free position attempt.

Madar also won a team-high 12 draw controls, collected three ground balls and caused three Calvin turnovers.

"Rach was the ultimate leader on the field at Calvin on Saturday," Head Coach Jess Smith said. "She was a major factor in all areas of the game, scoring seven goals including the OT game-winner. This win was Kalamazoo's first win ever over Calvin. It was a huge win for us sparked by Rachel's work and leadership on the field."

This marks the sixth time Madar has been named Hornet of the Week.

Kalamazoo (2-0) returns to action on Wednesday, March 3 for its home opener against Albion.
