ANGOLA, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College women's cross country team placed fifth at the MIAA Championships at Trine University on Saturday.

Rachael Gallap paced Kalamazoo with a 16th place finish as the junior crossed at 24:32 to earn All-MIAA Second Team honors.

Freshman Anna Varitek ran a 24:49 and finished 21st overall.  She was the third-fastest freshman in the field.

Gwendolyn Flatland placed 38th with a time of 27:41.

Rachel Cornell and Kathryn LeVasseur rounded out the five Hornets with 40th and 41st place finishes.

"I'm extremely proud of these ladies as they held their position in the conference from last year after graduating four of the top five runners," said Head Coach Kyle Morrison.
