DAVENPORT, Fla. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team continued its spring break trip with its first game in Florida against Wisconsin-La Crosse on Tuesday afternoon (Mar. 21). The Hornets fell to a tough Eagles team 11-2.

UW-La Crosse scored four runs before an out was recorded in the first and another two in the second. An error on the Kalamazoo defense allowed the first run to score, followed by a three-run home run. The other two runs came around on a two-RBI single up the middle.

The Hornets got on the scoreboard in the fourth to cut the deficit to four. Cooper Mills got the inning going with a lead-off single through the left side of the infield. After an out was recorded, Harrison Poeszat launched a two-run home run down the left field line for his first home run of the season.

The Eagles scored another five runs before claiming the nine-run win. In the sixth, it was an RBI single, and another four crossed the plate in the eighth. A two-RBI single up the middle and a two-run home run to left center scored the game's final runs.

Charlie Peterson (0-1) allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits and two walks to begin the game. Blake Parpart came in to finish first and pitched the second, surrendering two runs on three hits with a strikeout. Gabe Sokol (2) and Jaden Williams (1) combined to throw three scoreless innings in the third, fourth, and fifth. Kaden Sotomayor allowed one run in the sixth off a couple hits before Joe Wade tossed a clean seventh with a strikeout. Matt Butterly recorded an out, but gave up four runs on four hits and a walk. Ben Van Nes finished the eighth, and then Chris Bullard threw a scoreless ninth.

Mills collected two hits and scored a run, while Poeszat had two RBI on the home run. Lukas Bolton picked up the third hit for the Hornets.

Kalamazoo will continue its spring break trip in Florida with two games against Williams and Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Wednesday (Mar. 22).
