Men's Basketball Competes in Exhibition at Western Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team competed in an exhibition contest at NCAA Division I Western Michigan University Saturday afternoon.

Kalamazoo scored the first basket of the game and led by as many as five (12-7) with 14:00 left in the first half. Western tied the score at 12-12 at the 11:42 mark, but Kalamazoo regained the -lead (17-14) with 7:30 remaining. The Broncos outscored Kalamazoo 16-5 the rest of the way to take a 33-22 lead into halftime. 

Western increased its lead early in the second half while shooting 55 percent in the half leading to the 77-47 final.

Western shot 47.5 percent overall while limiting Kalamazoo to 34.7 percent. The Broncos made 16-of-19 free throws compared to 5-of-7 for Kalamazoo. Western also held a 32-20 advantage in rebounds.

Ty Horky led Kalamazoo with 18 points.

Josh Decker scored eight points while Bobby Samples had seven points and three assists. DJ Courtney also had three assists. Lukas Broadsword finished with five points and a team-high four rebounds. 

Kalamazoo is scheduled to open the regular season on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at Elmhurst.
