KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced Monday afternoon that Ian Yi of the Kalamazoo College men's tennis team was named Player of the Week following his performance in Saturday's match against Alma.

Yi, a junior from Ann Arbor, Mich. (Pioneer), won 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles spot against Alma's Brandon Ralston. He also recorded an 8-1 victory in No. 1 doubles with Daniel Henry. The Hornets went on to defeat Alma 9-0 in their home opener.

In his third year as Kalamazoo's primary No. 1 singles player, Yi begins the 2021 season with a 1-0 record to add to his 25-9 career showing. He has been named MIAA Player of the Week four times and received All-MIAA First team honors in 2019.

The Hornets return to the court on March 31 on the road against Calvin. Matches are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
