GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team won the 2023 MIAA championship outright with a 7-2 win at Calvin University on Saturday. The win marked the 88th time the Hornets have won the MIAA regular season championship.

Saturday's match began outdoors but eventually moved inside due to rain and snow.

Kalamazoo won two of the three doubles matches before winning five of the six singles matches to win the match.

Gabe Vidinas/Peter Fitzgerald won 8-4 at one doubles. Adnan Alousi/Casey Johnson won 8-2 at two. Louis Landreau/Parker Foster narrowly lost 8-7(1) at three.

Fitzgerald and Alousi won in straight sets at two and three singles, respectively, before Landreau's 6-1, 6-4 win at five singles clinched the win for the Hornets.

Johnson won 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 at four singles. Vidinas won 6-4, 4-6, 7-6(1) at one.

As the top seed in the MIAA Tournament, Kalamazoo will host a semifinal on Thursday, April 27. The opponent and match time will be posted on the schedule once annouced by the league.
